UP Branchline Local with a Clean Caboose
Author: spider1319

Remember when we could get end of train photos other than DP or helpers. Those days happen on a fairly regular basis on the UP Umatilla ,Oregon Branch.A three mile backup move often results in a nice clean  freshly  painted  caboose.Originating at Hinkle and serving the Umatilla Branch is the Locai seen in these two images. The first one is downtown Hermiston and the second view is seen approaching Hinkle with the Calpine Generating Station in the background. The caboose is stored between runs in the secure confines of Hinkle Yard.Bill Webb

Nice shots--always nice to see a caboose in service.

Two rare things, a caboose and a true local.  Not many locals left excluding those in metro areas.

Nice surprise, especially it's not painted "shoving platform" with the windows and doors welded shut! And it's a clean caboose with not a drop of grafitti!

Are there other lines where cabooses are still being used?  (Besides on my model railroad)
