Western Railroad Discussion > Albany & EasternDate: 01/25/20 19:04 Albany & Eastern Author: Bunny218 Have a possible trip to this area for other business, and was just wondering about the Albany & Eastern as a potential choice to railfan and look at while out there. Does anyone know if this cool looking railroad has any kind of regular operational pattern, or if they just operate as needed? Would be mostly interested in photographing over the road operations. Thanks in advance for any information.

finland. Arlen Date: 01/25/20 22:06 Re: Albany & Eastern Author: roustabout They have frequent weekend passenger excursions between Lebanon and Sweet Home. The main freight run is their Hauler that starts every weekday morning in Lebanon, works over to the Portland & Western yard in Albany and then back to Lebanon and out to the lumber mill at Bauman on the line to Sweet Home. Although they are on no set schedule (other than a regular morning start time), they often arrive in Albany around 10 am. Catching them in Albany is a good way to catch the P&W's venerable SD7 1501 working the yard switcher (although it appears to currently be in the shop for maintenance). A&E's base of operations is the industrial park behind the hospital in NE Lebanon. Also watch for movements out to the log reload at Crabtree and traffic from Mill City although the last is on an irregular schedule I believe.
