Sunday morning races and chases

One beautiful Sunday morning greeted me as I headed for the La Crosse (WI) Amtrak depot having been tipped off that CP 583 had a CN cowl motor leading, and sure enough just after sunrise the CN 2405 rumbled past. Time to race to Dakota for another shot! The Winter sun makes it a bit of a challenge, but I was happy with the results. Time to head north for CP 288 and the CP 7010. I waited in Minneiska MN and soon I was chasing south.

What a wonderful paint scheme! CP 288 rumbles past Minneiska and again at Bass Camp into the siding at Minnesota City to wait for Amtrak #8.

With Amtrak now ahead of him, CP 288 thundered out of Minnesota City. With Amtrak's station stop at Winona I was able to set up in Homer MN for #8 led by the #7! Soon the hills reverberated with the sounds of EMD / GEs as CP 288 cruised by.

Here is another look at CP 288 passing Homer and it was on to Lamoille where I tried a different perspective, I like it, maybe not the VW so much but the train looked nice. Lastly, River Junction, I photographed many trains at this spot and it never disappoints! Thanks for tagging along!

Nice catch I the CN 2405 - even had a Pac-Man hopper for a buffer car.
