How Long?
Author: Q4960

At 5 pm CDT today, Saturday March 21, 2020, JB Pritzker's Executive Order # 2020-10 took effect which basically instructs residents in the State of Illinois to stay at home.  How Long?  Good Lord only knows.  I thought that I would head up to BNSF's Chilli Sub and watch some trains for a couple of hours and these are the better photos that I took with my DJI Phantom 3 Standard drone in the Village of Ancona.  The 3rd photo is the last train photo until?

States with more people are affected to a larger degree.
Time to stop childish comments and come together as a unified country.
People are dying, here in the US, and world wide.

The death rate in the US is doubling every 3 days now:

Hard to think of a more "socially distancing" activity than railfanning by yourself. With a drone.

If this is Ancona from above, where did the Pekin branch (now gone) come off?

So what happens if you get "caught" away from home?  Or sitting by yourself in a car by the tracks?  Arrested?  Forced social shaming?

Sounds like a tough one to regulate and enforce.

Its as I see in some posts all about me, think of others if you are out in your car alone watching trains is one thing. But if you travel to other areas away from yours and do have it, get out and wander around in a store or other places it could be you that causes it to be spread. Thats the bottom line little towns like I live close to when it comes will come from some person who does not live here.

If you have pre-existing conditions or are over 65 or both, the survival rates are not extremely high.  I have a granddaughter with cyctic fibrosis who has spent several weeks in the hospital for issues with her lungs in the past three years.  If she gets the virus I can't even imagine what her survival rate would be.  And I would not be very happy with how the federal government has handled this crisis.

BTW the pics were neat.  I spent the night there watching trains in 1983 and still have the notes from that trip..

The way it has been ordered, nothing. If you are out on your own there isn't an issue. Now... did you go to a house party with 30 people? Well that might get broken up by police; it happened twice the other night in Chicago. But I don't even think they fined or arrested anyone for that.

On the other side of the order, there are workers who hope that their employers will finally come to their senses and shut down or allow work from home. My employer (I work a job with high public contact) played games day after day trying to come up with new plans to stay open. The stay-at-home order finally shut them down. Some of us had to laugh, because top management had just spent days in meetings on the new plan to stay open, which would have taken place today.
