Western Railroad Discussion > Mystery passenger car in Provo, and other photos.

White shrink-wrapped passenger car at the engine shops in Provo, Utah.  Anyone recognize this?  I don't recall seeing a passenger car shipped this way before.

4) Utah Railway was using a single red and silver SD50 for switching today.  Looked sharp!  900 S crossing of old UP LA&SL mainline. 

5) FrontRunners all dressed up, and still going.  

6) SP flat car with wheels.  Build date 1954.  Along 600 S, a few days ago. Looks pretty good for 66 years old.  

Stay isolated, be sure to wear a scarf over your nose and mouth if you go out in public.

Now who's the "Big Wheel" in this photo?  Those of the load or those on rails?  Looks like those of the rails as they are on top now! 😀

Now, back to the thread subject, the "shrink wrapped car".  I know this shrink wrap is used in various situations nowadays, but can someone please explain once the material is applied, how do those applying it actually shrink it to conform to the features of the item?  I'm thinking of some form of heat, but what type applicator and how many degrees, etc.?  In this case, how is the material anchored at the bottom without shrinking upward on the car side?
