More Power, Less Flange
Author: BoilingMan

Rumor has it Donner will hit a warming trend this week, so I guess the UPRR decided it was safe to bring a bunch of Snow Service GP's off The Hill and down to Roseville this morning.  Here we have 6 GP's and a single flanger coming off Cape Horn- they'll be passing through Colfax in about 2 or 3min.

I took this from Carpenter Road, so I probably owe Skygevo a royalty or something..

Don't see any white stuff on the ground. How low did it get during this last round of storms?

Neat shot of the Long Ravine Trestle, I've never seen what that area looks like from above thanks.

Good catch SR. That will be it for the Spring snow season on the Hill.

What is that large cleared area coming down the hill south of I-80?

This is at about 2500’. It will snow down to here occasionally (I don’t think it did this week) but even then, it won’t last long on the ground.

In the 1st photo? EB I-80 was widened recently. At that location the soil was too loose to hold the normal angle of the cut and right away began to fail and slide. So they shaved the hillside way back from the highway and added an exaggerated system of drains.

I nearly fell off my chair laughing when I read that.
