#6 at Norden today-  might this be the 2019-20 Winter Season finale?   One never really knows on Donner.

Great picture.  Can someone explain to a midwesterner what snowshed is what in the picture?  Obviously the one on the left is the remaining main line.  Is the one in the center the former "high line" over the pass?  What is the shed on the right that still has track?

Thanks!

Sure.
#6 is on the #2 Track that goes to Tunnel 41.
The track alongside #6 was the siding for the 2 Track, but is today essentially the #1 Track to Tunnel 41.
The shed with the graffiti was the lead to the turntable that occupied the area in the foreground.
And the Shed with the track was the old #1 Track to the CPRR’s original Summit Tunnel and Sheds. The track now ends a few hundred feet beyond the frame of the photo and is sometimes used to hold MoW equipment. (Right now there’s a container just inside the shed (maybe a generator or something?) blocking the track.

Nice shot!  You know how many trains go through there on average in 24 hours?

Thanks.
