Author: DonWinslow An interesting place in eastern California on old Highway 66. Once a thriving town with hotels, cafes, businesses and homes. It's now a total ghostown but if ya know where to look one can still find traces of the old town. Foundations, loading dock, still an active siding and an old cemetery are still there. The old Bagdad Cafe was a famous stop for travelers and had Saturday night dances and the only juke box for miles around. This train is eastbound at the west side of town.

I really wanted to get down there before things got too hot this year but now it sounds like it will have to be in the fall instead.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagdad,_California The Bagdad Cafe of tv\movie fame wasn't ever in Bagdad, CA. It is in Newberry Springs. What was left of the town of Bagdad was removed in 1991. I've been out there many times but a couple of years ago there was a guy with a metal detector and he was finding coins and even a few old tin cans from one of the hotels with their name on them. I may have it wrong but I think t was a Harvey House. I did talk to a CHP officer who was stationed out there when it was still a small town.
