Western Railroad Discussion > F Units Turn Me OnDate: 05/22/20 06:40 F Units Turn Me On Author: CNW8531 These shots look as if to be decades old, but they're not. They were taken last August at the IRM at Union, Illinois on their annual Diesel Days weekend celebration. I don't know yet if they will have the event this year or not. It always does draw quite a large gathering so we'll have to wait and see. If you like F units (and other vintage power) this is a good place to see some running every year. And, where else can you observe 5 F's together in a consist this day and age!

The same scheme shown in that photo, as that is how they both came out of the West Burlington Shops. I was there for the entire group photo, as the BN, and subsequently the BNSF, was my customer, as Senior District Engineer for EMD. I retired from EMD at the end of 1998. Both units are essentially GP38-2 inside, i.e. 2000 HP each. Date: 05/23/20 18:34 Re: F Units Turn Me On Author: ns1000 Great pics!!
