Just can’t get enough of that bridge
Author: bmarti7

The BNSF bridge crossing the Missouri River between Mandan and Bismarck is supposedly the most-photographed icon in ND. Tonight's sunset colors were more vivid to me personally as I have just completed cataract surgery in both eyes. These were taken from 2115-2145 on 5-21. I was hoping as always for a train but there are few these days. Thanks for looking.

2. further downstream, this is 30 minutes later, taken from the site of the Riverboat Wharfs
3. this notes the one-time western terminus of the Northern Pacific before the bridge was built

I can't get enough of that bridge either!  To me it and the Valley City bridge are the most photogenic in the state.  Not as many trains now?  Yikes!  Any idea of how many trains a day BNSF runs?  I was hoping to make one last trip to Bismarck in July providing the state is not shut down for the virus to photgraph the bridge.

Used to be 10-12/day, now seems 8--10.

ND never had lockdown or stay-at-home. Most businesses are open, you can get a haircut, sit down inside a restaurant, go to church, etc. we have one of the lowest ratios of Covid in the U.S, TRNP opening tomorrow.

Interesting that a railroad bridge is the most photogenic man made object in North Dakota. I have never been in that state, is it true what a ND native told me that "behind every tree in North Dakota there is a beautiful woman?"

Bill, the first one is the most peaceful I've seen in a long time,  I'll bet that's a great place to talk with God.
