Shadows at Ludlow & PhotoBob's celebration tree.
Author: DonWinslow

Well folks, old PhotoBob has hit a milestone. The old boy (ancient) is one of the oldest photographers to post train stuff on TO. If ya look closely at the photo, there is a tree just sticking out in front of the engine on the fireman's side. This  tree resembles the old goat in that it's well beyond it's prime by being bent over, dried up, falling down, and has no hair (leaves). Oh well, at least he still posts some great photos and that's worth a celebration.:>)
Waiting for his answer............

Oh Don you say the nicest things and I thought you just didn't like me. Now if I could just work a petrified tree into a train photo I could make a few comments about your resemblance to a tree.

I am a bit bewildered, there isn't a cloud in the sky but some how you have the nose of the train in shade,
verrrrry interesting!

Tall building behind photographer is blocking the solar orb near sunrise or sunset.

The tallest building in the whole area is the outhouse behind Don's motel and that's nowhere near the picture.

That late afternoon shadow is from the Ludlow mountain just behind me. The sun has just started to drop behind it. That's the mountain with the big L on it on the south side of the tracks

Sure is a lot of aluminum in the signal bridges just to support four signal heads.

OK, I'll try; I'm a bit confused as to the location of the tree. Since there haven't been Firemen on the railroads for more than 40 years, just what is the "fireman's side" of a modern diesel?

Wow Jack, I thought the fireman always sat oposite the engineer just like you do on any engine you happen to be in. I was gonna have PhotoBob explain to you where the tree was but he can't see that well with his advanced age. Her's lucky to see the end of his nose.
