Western Railroad Discussion > Morning D-8 with the Coast StarlightDate: 06/25/20 16:10 Morning D-8 with the Coast Starlight Author: SCUfoamer Amtrak has graced railfans and cursed crews with AMTK510 leading the Coast Starlight rotation. The last time that a P32 Dash-8 led the starlight was almost exactly year ago. I had my sights set on catching it crossing the Benicia Bridge and then photogrpahing it at intermediate points to South San Jose.
1. Telesmashing the beautiful but aging steel bridge linking Benicia and Martinez - Right on time :) 2. Crossing over at Emeryville 3. Jack London Square Date: 06/25/20 16:12 Re: Morning D-8 with the Coast Starlight Author: SCUfoamer 4. Trackspeed at Mowry
5. I chose to save gas in San Jose and abondon the chase. I snagged the Hollister local switching Luther Junction with a GP-15 named "Little Tugger" Date: 06/25/20 16:24 Re: Morning D-8 with the Coast Starlight Author: SPgoletablock Really like that first shot on the bridge!

Don't know how new the repaint is, but glad to see a GP15 back in the area. It means a lot to hear that coming from a NorCal photo god. Posted from iPhone Date: 06/25/20 18:51 Re: Morning D-8 with the Coast Starlight Author: SCUfoamer cchan006 Wrote:

Has to run long hood forward back from Hollister or Gilroy every day now. Your bridge shot is superb, great use of the big lens. Unfortunately, "Little Tugger" may already be on his way back to Roseville for repairs. It sounded like one of the traction motors crapped out on the return trip to Warm Springs and the unit limped home. We'll see what the power situation looks like with UP devoting so few units to the locals these days.
