Better Days...
Author: CompanyNotch

I took a recent stroll over to the the UP/former DRGW Tennessee Pass mainline in Salida CO and this was the view.  Don't worry, I exited the track quickly after snapping the photo  in case a train was approaching soon.

It would take a lot to get this line back in shape now.  Signal cabinets have all been vandalized and emptied of their components, and not to mention all the boulders that have fallen on the track upstream from here.  I noticed many highway crossings have also been removed/paved over.

I'm so glad you got off the tracks before getting run over by a train.

The more time passes, the more it is going to take to get it back in good enough shape to operate. The time to fix it up and resume operations was 15 years ago.

Agreed, 15 years ago would have been better..kind of looks like a lost cause now.
