Western Railroad Discussion > Railroad to Nome AlaskaDate: 07/05/20 10:37 Railroad to Nome Alaska Author: scott9915 Trump is looking to create a "deep water port" in Nome Alaska. He has signed a memorandom to study the project.
https://thehill.com/opinion/national-security/502270-us-security-starts-in-the-arctic This new port will need to have a rail line built from Nome to Fairbanks Alaska where it will connect with the Alaska Railroad and connect to Anchorage. Quote from the article: Nome should be connected to Fairbanks by a new, strategic rail thoroughfare where a seamless connection can be made to the existing Alaska Railroad system south to Anchorage. I wonder if this project will have any impact on the A2A project that is to connect Fairbanks to Alberta by rail? It might make it easier to justify the Alaska Russian tunnel. Thank you in advance. Date: 07/05/20 14:26 Re: Railroad to Nome Alaska Author: Dewman45 It would join the CN. My question is way not build it to Fort Nelson, BC it would be a lot closer it would still be joining the CN.

So what does any of this have to do with a tunnel or the new line to the port? jst3751 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > TCnR Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Thought A2A was going into Canada: > > Alberta is in Canada. I don’t think I this will ever see a shovel of dirt turned however
