As for the concrete ties thing, who knows? Date: 08/02/20 07:21 Re: That’s one way to add AC to a locomotive. Author: Ballastkicker concrete ties on top of slug for more traction

I suspect you are correct. But 2810 was a high hood equipped with dynamic brakes on NS. Looking closer at the picture it appears to have been modified heavily after. The number boards and headlight look suspiciously like GE numberboards. Date: 08/02/20 09:37 Re: That’s one way to add AC to a locomotive. Author: ALCO630 DaveL Wrote:

I still think people do this on purpose. Posted from iPhone Doug Wetherhold Macungie, PA Date: 08/02/20 11:34 Re: That’s one way to add AC to a locomotive. Author: masterphots Done all the time here in Chile, but for clearance reasons. The highest point on the unit is the cab roof. The loco is an SD39M-2, built by NRE Dixmoor from the hulk of B&O 3749/CSX 6525.

Author: exprail Back a few years when I was railroading in Kanasa the K&O Railroad leased a unit to a local ready mix plant for their switching, Because of the heat, humidity, dust and dirt in the palnt the leasor figured out a simple, way to add air conditioning to the cab of the locomotive. They placed a residential, window, air conditioner in the conductor's side window and chained down a diesel generator to the cab roof to supply power. Luckily, they didn't have any side or top clearance issues and it worked perfectly.
