Western Railroad Discussion > Latest from the Phx SubDate: 08/03/20 20:43 Latest from the Phx Sub Author: RayLewis Had some free time, but the Phx sub was frustrating on my last trip. Trains just weren't cooperating. But I stuck it out until the smoke from the Apple Fire in CA came in yesterday am, which cut my trip short.
1st shot - BNSF 7081, QPHXCHI3-31 at Daze on 7/31 2nd and 3rd shot BNSF 7155, ZWSPPHX7-30 at Grand View, AZ on 1 Aug. Date: 08/03/20 20:59 Re: Latest from the Phx Sub Author: coach Photo 1: Image of the Day. I love how you see the distant valley floor below, giving a real sense of how much altitude the train has gained. Plus, that sun glint is perfect.

Steve B. Date: 08/03/20 21:55 Re: Latest from the Phx Sub Author: RayLewis I didnt get any shots. It was all cleaned up. There was a stack of wheels and ten or so cars pushed off to the side. But Mike Huggins did. I think he is still on TO.

TC Date: 08/04/20 08:24 Re: Latest from the Phx Sub Author: RayLewis Thank you all. I figured I'd get plenty of opportunities following the derailment....but the timing just didnt work out. The smoke here in AZ is still real bad so not sure if I will get another chance to get out before returning to work next Monday.

But I believe there is some elevation there to get a view. I just opted to try a different hike on the other side (which wasn't that great).
