Wyaconda stair steps.
Author: hank

A westbound BNSF intermodal on main 2 meets eastbound  Amtrak #4 on main 1 near MP 275 on the BNSF Marceline sub.  Location is a couple miles west of Wyaconda, Missouri.  The area is known by local railfans as the Wyaconda stair steps.  Not sure of the date, but likely 2001 or 2002.

Thanks for viewing.

Interesting perspective on tracks that I have ridden many many times.

Really brings home how much freight Amtrak was hauling in that period. The class 1’s couldn’t have been happy about this.

Having worked the amtrak mail and express in los angels during that time frame   santa fe shipped a large number of shipments on amtrak every day because of the railroad la/chi  we could make the running time across the railroad

This video was taken in 2001 or 2002,  long before the heritage units were painted. Whatever the unit is that's the original paint

That’s just a fun video to watch — remember the M&E years well at AMTK and have video of an equally long SWC at Princeton, IL.
Thanks for sharing! BTW, I’m sure the pole line and those old signals are long gone by now, right ?!?
