BNSF Miramar and Escondido Local Power
Author: AustinSD

Does anyone know what power BNSF is going to use for the Miramar and Escondido local? I know they have 2 GP60’s in the San Diego yard. In the past they used to run it with 2 B40-8W’s and a GP60.

Thanks,
Austin

Current BNSF SoCal local power is GP60's/60m's

Granted, I am not immediately working in the vicinity, working for BNSF out of Los Angeles's "Hobart Yard" at the moment. I'd be willing to bet the BNSF power assigned would be in the rebuilt GP50 "GP25", or GP60/60M variety as seen throughout So Cal. Of course there are opportunities for exceptions to the norm. Guess we'll see?

From what I have seen so far BNSF will base this operation out of National City so you might see a couple extra units down there.
Most likely drawn from the same SoCal Local Power pool.
