Western Railroad Discussion > Uintah Basin Railway ProgressDate: 09/09/20 08:05 Uintah Basin Railway Progress Author: milepost20 Drexel Hamilton Infrastructure Partners and the State of Utah’s Seven County
Infrastructure Coalition yesterday executed an agreement to advance the Uinta Basin Railway, a new railroad to be constructed and operated by Fort Worth, TX-based Rio Grande Pacific Corp. to industries in northeastern Utah’s Uinta Basin. From this mornings' Railway Age: https://www.railwayage.com/freight/short-lines-regionals/uinta-basin-railway-green-lighted/?RAchannel=home The new line will head eastward from a junction with the former DRGW between Soldier Summit and Helper and serve crude oil and natural gas reserves(which presently move to Salt Lake City area refineries by truck) and mineral and agricultural customers. The article states they hope to begin construction next year with the first operations in 2023. Given that the STB has yet to rule on the final route alternative that seems very optimistic.
