It was a loaded train but dont know what the cause was yet.
Fore those who dont know where Shawnee Junction is . It is in east central Wyoming just east Of Douglas Wyoming. It is on the South end of the Orin Sub.

Basically the south end of the Powder River Basin action.

For the most part UPrr turns East at Shawnee Jct onto the ex CNW tracks, BNSF turns West for Denver etc.

If the derailment occurred right at Shawnee Jct. would that be on UP or BNSF tracks?

Now would be the time to check out Crawford Hill. Lots of trains rerouted over Crawford.

Dick,

My maps show that to be on the UP.
