Western Railroad Discussion > Iron Springs, Utah to Port of Long Beach Iron Ore Train On LineupDate: 10/13/20 13:01 Iron Springs, Utah to Port of Long Beach Iron Ore Train On Lineup Author: BurtNorton As information, the first Iron Springs, Utah to Port of Long Beach 180 car unit iron ore train is on the UP lineup and should be out and running shortly if not already. Keep an eye out for it. As background, Black Iron, LLC owns and operates the former CML Metals / CML Railroad property. The mine and railroad is located west of Cedar City, Utah on the leased UP Comstock Subdivision.

Date: 10/13/20 13:10 Re: Iron Springs, Utah to Port of Long Beach Iron Ore Train On Li Author: jst3751 Please keep us informed of its progress.
As one who is very familliar with Piers F and G I would love to be able to see this be worked and unloaded. Date: 10/13/20 13:31 Re: Iron Springs, Utah to Port of Long Beach Iron Ore Train On Li Author: BurtNorton pdt Wrote:

The power will be whatever UP assigns to the train. The four SD40-3 CLC locomotives will never leave the shortline on any unit train. What Im asking is are the sd40 mine engines active, or did they use UP power on the mine trackage?
I wasnt expecting the mine engines to run down the UP. I was just wondering if they were active on the mine trackage? I find that much more interesting than the UP part of the haul. Date: 10/13/20 15:03 Re: Iron Springs, Utah to Port of Long Beach Iron Ore Train On Li Author: BurtNorton pdt Wrote:

The previous owner's four locomotives are being used to load the trains and run them down from the mine to Iron Springs, UT. It arrived around 11pm last night.

Also, Pier S would mean SA Recycling is the transloader instead of Oxbow on Pier G. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/13/20 16:31 by jst3751. See what people are willing to pay to get an original slide. Then get back to me. By the way, see what people are paying for a copy of a digital image as well.

out of Milford? Out Date: 10/14/20 10:24 Re: Iron Springs, Utah to Port of Long Beach Iron Ore Train On Li Author: zwsplac Did they run it as a 180 car train all the way to the LA Basin, or was the train split in two at Yermo?
Date: 10/14/20 14:25 Re: Iron Springs, Utah to Port of Long Beach Iron Ore Train On Li Author: callum_out That would be the next question.
Out Date: 10/14/20 18:40 Re: Iron Springs, Utah to Port of Long Beach Iron Ore Train On Li Author: ble692 The loaded train ran out of Iron Springs with 177 loads as the OUTS1 11. At Yermo the train was split in half, with 90 cars continuing on the OUTS1 11 and the balance moving on the OYRS1 14. The 90 cars from the first half of the train are aleady moving back empty toward Yermo as the OS1YR 14. Another load, the OUTS1 16 is showing to run in a couple days.
