Fall Along The Missabe Range and North Shore Scenic
Author: Ohiorailfan

On the 4th and 5th I made my way up to the Duluth area to see what I could get my hands on. Traffic on the CN was fairly slow, but did manage a few neat catches. However the other goal was the North Shore Scenic Railroad's excursion to Knife River with SOO F7A #2500 and DMIR SD18 #193. Also included is the afternoon local excursion with NSR GP9 #245. Upon arriving on the 4th I was treated to an early morning empty limestone heading down from Proctor with BLE 909 leading the way. I then caught a rebuilt BNSF SD45-2 leading a local into BNSF's Superior yard. After that I spent the afternoon with the excursion trains. Shortly after those CN 2007 lead an empty up Proctor Hill. In the evening just south of Iron Junction IC 6253 led a southbound empty limestone and behind it was CN 2041 with a loaded ore train. On the 5th the morning started with a pair of 15th anniversary C40-8s on a T Bird at Iron Junction as it headed to Fairlane. Then CN 2007 left Fairlane and headed south to Proctor. Also of interest was the museum's 2 SD45s sitting outside in the sun. To finish the day DMIR 406 left Proctor with a loaded limestone train as it headed towards Iron Junction. Enjoy!

Great minds shoot alike.  My last day on the range was the morning of the 5th. You had great luck at the museum.

Bottom line, you have a great group of images!

Take a look at the Nostalgia board ..."Dial M..."

Ha det bra!

Very nice images. Did Burlington Northern Santa Fe finally fix Great Northern SD45 "Hustle Muscle" #400? Is the Northern Pacific SD45 operable? Always good to see standard cab C40-8 units in Canadian National paint. Love the Bessemer SD45T-2 and the BNSF SD45-2, also the ore trains.  Thanks for sharing.
