Mixing work and vacation and taking in one of my favorite railfan locations, the Joint Line over the Palmer Divide.  The Saturday pics were taken in 65 degree temps on a beautiful sunny day.  For the Sunday pics, subtract 55 degrees and reduce visibility to a half-mile or so.  In No 1, we find 6129 awaiting its next assignment near the Greenland Open space.  No.2 shows a south bound approaching Palmer Lake.  No. 3 shows the same southbound passing through Palmer Lake, as we were enjoying lunch outside.

No.4 shows the DPU pushing a southbound at Monument.  Nos 5 and 6 show the same northbound (empty coal hoppers) at Palmer.

Nos 7,8 and 9 show the same southbound coal drag just south of Castle Rock.  You know, any poser can railfan on sunny, 72-degree day.  But only us hardcore railfans would exit a toasty warm vehicle on a 10-degree day with gusty winds and blowing snow just to record the action ;)   Thanks for looking!
