ARR 3009 pauses with the Hurricane Turn, southbound in the afternoon, while a photographer gets off the train (with permission of crew) to photograph the mountain on June 6, 2013

Chase is at MP 236.2, Talkeetna is MP 226.7, and this is MP 239, only 12.3 miles from the nearest road

The Turn, with ARR 31 on the north end, was then noted at the depot at Talkeetna

After dropping off the remaining passengers, and related baggage, ARR 31 leads the Hurricane Turn north to the 'old' depot, where they then park on the spur until next time

Our conductor can be seen in the second shot. The nicest guy ever!

And on ARR 31 you can see a couple ARR touches have been added. 
A winterization hatch over the engine and the protruding "bug eye" marker lights in place of the "normal" classification lights.

Excellent shots. Pretty rare for the view of the mountain to not be obscured by clouds.

Here's what part of the inside of the Talkeetna section house looks like. I shot this in September 2012 when I was assigned to work train service to fix a big washout that happened near Gold Creek.
