19. WB 217pm grain train with BNSF 7777-8388 on the point with DPU. Always nice to see lucky 7777. Also had a rail fan pull up and also grab a shot of 7777. I was coming out of the grocery store when I heard a distant whistle and it happened to be the lucky unit.
20. A quick going away grab shot of BNSF 7777 on same train.
21. DPU BNSF 6576 on same train.

Interesting coal train with only 2 up front and two on the rear instead of the normal 3 by 1.  Is this a change for allm, or just this one?

TIA

I see coal trains with 2 on the front and two on the rear quite a few times over the weeks. I also see 3 and 1 many times.

Good look at the day's activity Larry.  Several units facing the same direction in consist.  The block of tanks behind the power looks pretty cool

Larry,

I know several of the 7700's that I had on a BNSF unit grain to 4 Lakes were totally tagged on the outside.  Looking at the 92 day inspection card indicated they had spent time in Southern California area..    Hmmmmm, taggers must have got to them a lot down there..

Keep on posted what I miss on the Northern Transcon..   :-)

Larry,

Past history on the coal trains going to Centralia, Wash and Roberts Bank, BC is that when they get to Laurel, MT on the MRL, MRL rearranges a unit from the rear to the head end to use helpers on the rear of the train.   I think MRL has to cut in the helpers if they are 2X2 on Mullan and Bozeman pass..

I like photo 12. Maybe that warbonnet and heritage 2 locomotive would like to swap thier air conditioning units with each other Lol

my 2 cents worth: from speaking with engineers 2 x 2 is desirable but we don't live in a perfect world. Dead units, other locomotive issues dictate placement. Also availability-Ft. Worth seems to want to use the newer units instead of bringing MAC's out of storage
