Who’s a good contact at CN to discuss their Wisconsin and Michigan short line spin-outs?

Visit the CN website and search for shortline development or real estate.   However, if you didn't know this information already you are probably not a good candidate in the eyes of CN.    Also,  you'll need to get in line behind the shortline conglomerates,  established shortlines,  myself,  and others.  Many folks are after these lines like a dog on a juicy steak.

Do we even know which lines yet? I assume CN would keep Appleton-Green Bay-Escanaba-Gladstone but that might not be a good assumption.

A map of the lines that CN intends to sell is available here:

Traffic is most likely way too many of those darned single car shipments!

I expect CN gets a lot of inquiries about its branch lines.

I'm interested to see if they offer clusters of lines in packages, or sell them one by one.

I think you will find the larger bidders will dictate that and what's left we hear about.

Yes.

The bankers undoubtedly have offers for various packages. That sets a nice floor ptice.

You bid on clusters and run throughs and leave the remote lines to the little guys.

Thank you, these lines mostly make sense to me as ones that would do better in the hands of a short line.

One further question: is the paper mill in Rhinelander (at one time St. Regis Paper) still operating? I got a tour of it once as a HS student decades ago.

Yes, Ahlstrom-Munksjo, a Finnish company, bought the Rhinelander mill in 2018 along with another mill in Mosinee, WI
and both mills are still operating at this time.

I mostly agree, but that's why I asked about the paper mill in Rhinelander.

Mosinee remains CN served.
