Sometimes I would drive around the end of the tunnel and park next to the creek bottm, sometimes I would park at the west end of the tunnel and wak through it. Had to have track and time to test it anyways, so if I could get an extra 30mins, it was a walk through the tunnel. Some interesting things used to on below the bridge.

One can see the gradual decrease in elevation from right to left. That is the exact course these winds take, increasing in speed as the landscape lowers to the left.

At this time the line was ABS and train order territory. The Superintendent was operating on a track car line up. The high rail stopped on the bridge and all of the occupants were looking at the bridge. Low and behold a SP eastbound freight train came through the tunnel and collided with the high rail car. Luckily there were no injuries just a big embarrassment to the Superintendent and the other weed weasels.
