Western Railroad Discussion > West Colton Yard questionDate: 01/18/21 17:05 West Colton Yard question Author: ns2557 Looking at some shots I took back in 2009 and others over the years I have a question. Where do the trains that head east out of the yard and under Pepper Ave and thru the "loop" to head back west go to? Didn't they used to be called "Haulers"? Where do they go now a days if they still operate? Thanks, Ben
Date: 01/18/21 17:44 Re: West Colton Yard question Author: florida581 The following are the LA Basin haulers in and out of West Colton:
LOA44 from Anaheim LOB86 Montclair turn LOF74 from Gemco (Van Nuys) LOH45 Kaiser turn MLBWC from Long Beach MMLWC from Mira Loma (*note: LOB86 and LOH45 originate at Montclair and Kaiser respectively. They run to West Colton, set out their entire train, and return to their respective terminals lite power) LOB85 Montclair turn LOH43 Kaiser turn LOQ25 to Anaheim LOQ35 to Gemco (Van Nuys) MWCLB to Long Beach MWCML to Mira Loma (*note: LOB85 and LOH43 originate at Montclair and Kaiser respectively. They run to West Colton lite power, pick up their trains, and return to their respective terminals) Andrew Date: 01/18/21 19:07 Re: West Colton Yard question Author: callum_out Interesting that there's nothing direct to C of I (CI).

I think the Anahiem hauler does setouts at COI on the way to Anahiem and pickups at COI on the way back to WC. Or at least for a few years it did. Date: 01/19/21 09:40 Re: West Colton Yard question Author: callum_out I would find it hard to believe that there isn't some traffic between WC and CI even if things have changed.
Out Date: 01/19/21 16:28 Re: West Colton Yard question Author: ExSPCondr When WC was built, 48 years ago, there were also lots of trains that went West around the loop to Los Angeles, and through freight trains up the Coast.
There was also a crossover at the West end of the departure yard which would let a train depart West out of 401 or 402 and go West via 901. G Date: 01/20/21 09:06 Re: West Colton Yard question Author: PHall callum_out Wrote:

There has been no auto traffic at COI for a couple decades. |
