C-40-4 SP bay window caboose longevity
Author: zr1rob

Bluford Shops is coming out with a new run of N Scale bay window cabooses. Their description says these C-40-4 were delivered in 1961 with orange bay windows, not just the ends of the bay. The description also states that at least one of them lasted into the 80's with the orange painted bay still intact.

I'm wondering if this is true, and if so, which number caboose had it remaining? They're offering 3 numbers: 1406, 1490, 1583.

Well in the late 70s these cabs were rebuilt into 4000 series, so even if it made into the 80s, I'd think the number would be wrong.
