Thanks
Your image shows some of the old SP Seawall project to protect bluffs with RRs on them from wave erosion.

How did you shoot this?  I can't say I know the Carp area all that well, but I can't quite picture how you got this- unless with a drone..
Nice angle on a difficult to photograph spot!

- No drone, the original right of way is on the Oceanside and current trackage cuts to my right under the Highway. I’m up on a ridge in between the two.

What is the last 'car' in the train?
Kinda looks like a Genesis unit.
TIA!

Huh.  I didn't realize the bluff went out so far,  but it's been a while since I've walked out there....
This is probably fairly close to where you were- I shot this in about 1977:   The Ellwood Daylight heading home.
SR

I'll be heading down there next month for about 6wks-  maybe it's time to refresh my knowledge of the County Line on the Coast Line!

Does this suggest that UP might run more freight on the coastline?  It would justify the work it's recently done.

Derailment on the LA&SL caused the rerouting.

The helpers were abolished along with the SLO crew base years ago

Great picture of the old station named Wave.
When Highway 101 was built the track was re located to its present location and the line used to follow the coastline.

That sure is a "scenic route".  Never been there.  Awesome shot!

My years running the Coast with two units and 60 loaded tri levels..would guess around 32 mph.
