This triggers great memories Jim. Although I have not been to this spot, I used to spend hours at Colton, catching SP, UP and ATSF trains crossing at grade. Your depiction of a tunnel motor and SD45's is superb!

From back in the days before they-all-look-the-same-now ditch light/headlight standardization. One Southern Pacific memory I will always have is seeing the mars light arcing in the air from an oncoming train while I was on Hwy 99 north of Bakersfield.
