.   .   .    in MAY '90, one of the many RailCycle "trash" specials Santa Fe ran, from Los Angeles to Cadiz, CA, to promote a trash dump/storage site, was eastbound at Helendale, CA.

I love it!  I can't understand why BNSF didn't keep their  promise to paint hal of the engines in r/s and the other half in orange green.

I think that BNSF should paint all of their locomotives according to their original owner. Eventually they would all be orange as the heritage locomotives are retired.

This would make it much easier for the public to know which railroad a locomotive came from and how old it is.

Surly you jest!!!!     To be clear, the "public" couldn't care less what railroad locomotives are painted. Not only that, the "public" has no idea which railroads were merged into the BN, and then the BNSF.
