Western Railroad Discussion > Geep, SD40-2, and Four Dash 8s on BNSF Mixed FreightDate: 03/31/21 13:52 Geep, SD40-2, and Four Dash 8s on BNSF Mixed Freight Author: Agent Last month, I caught an eastbound BNSF mixed freight train with eight locomotives as it passed by Agency, Iowa. The train looked like a DMOGAL on its was from Des Moines, Iowa to Galesburg, Illinois. There were a couple typical GEs leading the train. Then there was a BNSF Geep and SD40-2. The second half of locomotives was a quartet of Dash 8s. These four had just come out of the RELCO shop at Albia. They've been painted in Genesee & Wyoming paint but with no railroad name or logos on the long hoods.
For fans of fallen flag rolling stock, there's an ex-Illinois Central Gulf and an ex-Soo Line covered hoppers coupled to each other at 2:09 and a Conrail autorack near the end of the train. List of engines: BNSF 4151 C44-9W BNSF 6870 ES44C4 BNSF 2723 GP39-2 BNSF 1718 SD40-2 GECX 537 B32-8 GECX 546 B32-8 GECX 556 B32-8 GECX 566 B32-8 Edited 1 time(s). Seems like I see fewer trains on the Des Moines branch these days yet the ones I do see are bigger.
