Larry McMurtry passed away recently, and we share a wonderfully evocative quote about a train passing through the Texas prairie, from his first novel, Horseman Pass By.

Thanks for the link! It is a very poignant snippet of a bygone era. Mr McMurtry, who invented one of my all-time favorite literary characters -Texas Ranger Captain Augustus McCrae- had the great talent of putting his readers right into the very situation in life that he was writing about. That's not easy to do. I am saddened to hear of his passing...

One of the best writers of our time.  His son is quite the singer-songwriter too.
