Cool!
If there is any copper in those remains look out for the crackheads! It is unbelievable how crackheads zero in on copper wires and pieces from locomotives. Very disturbing society we live in today.

Lots of the "Meth Heads" here in town and around the area. Had a good friend doing his job for the town of Coal Creek Colo get assaulted doing so. The office area here at RRRR is located off whats known as the River Walk in town and the particular area where it is, is right alongside said walk. Real easy to access the office and grounds. Where they are doing the work on the 401, it is behind a fence with wire above, might slow em down a few but if they want it they will find a way. They are upgrading this unit, one of the original units on Rock & Rail, to -2 electricals. Interesting to see them doing so. Thanks Gus, for sharing the shots. Ben

That's impressive to hear an operation of that size is doing their own -2 electrical upgrade on the unit.   I was worried the unit may have had an electical failure that would jeapardize its future but hopefully the upgrade goes smoothly as that should grant a nice life extension to the unit.

Was told by the guys doing the work, about 2 months to complete. Almost at that point now.  Ben

Wonder what they are working on, as that first photo appears to be an electrical panel/cabinet from the rear side of the main electrical cabinet. The second photo shows the dust bin blower hatch, plus the two inertial intake air filter housings. Obviously they are working the central air compartment, behind the main electrical cabinet and the main generator.
