A couple of moffat items from ski hi news Pass proposal/ museum
Author: dan

Grand county and some other sponsors want Rollins pass  open avoiding  needles eyes tunnel  via the Boulder wagon road last available 2006  to miscreants such as me.  Who wern't done up there.

we need your signature  to get this in spotlight once again

The consensus seems to be like the previous years it will get stymied and fall on deaf ears,   Gilpin  county at one time was on board , not  so much anymore, and Boulder county has thwarted needles eye reopening since 1990.

The Moffat museum  is divulging it's plan seems to  be fully funded

Unfortunately, Boulder County and many of the mountain counties in Colorado are now infested with transplanted coastal types that are absolute road-haters.  In both the Obama administration and now the Biden administration, the higher levels of the US Forest Service were/are now also infested with road-haters, despite many at the District level in the Forest Service who favor sensible road access to non-Wilderness areas to allow the public to access Forest lands that are owned by the American people.  A favorite gambit to eliminate Forest Service roads is simply to strip all maintenance funds for them, so the roads deteriorate into being unusuable.  This has been going on for more than a couple of decades now and it is another example of how a small, but vocal minority--with help from political allies that the minority helps elect--makes ugly public policy that the majority of the public would not support.  I have several good friends--career Forest Service people--who have retired or left the Forest Service because sensible land-use policy has been abandoned for political hackery in the upper levels of the agency.  Those friends were first-rate foresters, range managers, and wildlife experts.

"Public Lands" aren't so much so.
