Western Railroad Discussion > Another type of "railfanning" and scenes around Portage, WIDate: 07/16/21 05:43 Another type of "railfanning" and scenes around Portage, WI Author: robj 7/13/21 at Portage, WI crew change on CP Chicago to Twin Cities.
Not looking to rehash the graffitti thing as such but this was new for me. Perhaps something I realize is out there but had not seen and just not expected in Portage. I was at the station at Portage and there was a train stuck in the yard so I went west to an open grade crossing. There were a couple railfans who left as it started to get dark. Then there were three in this car with all kinds of writing etc on it. They said they saw the train on the other side of Portage and were waiting. Oh, OK. 1-2) The train passes, a little less that exciting but the training power would have been nice leading but the guys didn't seem interested until the "really good stuff" as one tole me. 3) taking video and photos of various cars, got pretty excited over this one.
