as he departs. 404 was severely damaged in a head on crash while "doubling the hill" to Lewiston in Fall of 1972. The underframe was bent at the back of the cab resulting in angularity of the lead truck. That meant it always wore the leading set of wheels prematurely. It finished its days on the Ore Division in the UP of Michigan.
