Some shots from latest Missouri trip
Author: SP8595

Made another trip from Western Colorado back to Northwest Missouri and brought the camera along just in case:}

1) On Friday, July 23rd I caught the Westbound Kyle train switching the Grain elevators at Brewster, KS with Central Oregon & Pacific SD40T-2 #4074 (Ex Southern Pacific 8232) and Buffalo & Pittsburgh SD40-3 #3344 which was built as the Canadian National 5157 and then went to the Kansas City Southern for awhile as their 6609/3158.

Once back in Missouri, I wasn't able to catch the Lehigh Valley Heritage engine leading early Saturday morning, the Reading leading Saturday afternoon and the Pennsylvania engine leading Westbound on Monday morning:{
With another Great "heads-up" that the Pennsy engine was returning back Eastbound out of Kansas City on the point early on Tuesday morning (July 27th), I was hoping to at least get the chance to shoot one of Norfolk Southern's Heritage engines leading!

2) While waiting for the NS train, I got a quick grab shot of the Eastbound Southwest Chief passing by the BNSF Carrollton Depot with Amtrak engines #45 and #165. This train actually had a pair of private cars on the rear but I wasn't ready to grab a shot as the train went flying past.

3) Pennsylvania Heritage engine #8102 looks Great leading the 9977, 7641 and 9348 (all elephant style) from the Highway 65 overpass heading Eastbound on NS tracks.

4) Back on the BNSF side at Carrollton, the BNSF #3875 with hood doors flapping heads Eastbound and passes by a parked Intermodal train with a FXE engine second out.

5 and 6) Early on Wednesday morning, July 28th I was outside doing yard work and heard an Eastbound BNSF train on the Brookfield Sub. blowing for crossings so I hopped in the car and did the short drive down to the Highway 65 crossing near Tina, MO. The trees alongside the right-of-way have recently been cleared off from this location which has really opened up the shot.
BNSF #5976 was leading  on this loaded coal train heading for the Thomas Hill power plant.
A going away with the rear DP's in the heavy, humid air (and probably a little smoke as well) with a soybean field in the foreground.

Nice shots John. Really like 3 & 4. Those NS Heritage Units can be a challenge to catch for us westerners. I try and catch them when I get back east of the Mississippi. Sometimes I do good, others not so good.  Got a few of them over the years.  Got the CNJ last time back that way.  Good luck. Ben

Great bunch. I wonder how unusual, or usual, it is for an intermodal train, power and all, to get stashed in a hand throw siding out there?

Great set!  Nice to see the Carrollton depot; not often we see it.  Very nice shot on the Pennsy.

I too am curious about the odd/interesting sight of the stack train parked on an auxiliary track.
