Western Railroad Discussion > New vehicle Bridge near BNSF Cajon Sub Flyover -- MP 39.4

 Over the years, the ATSF / BNSF "Natural Crossover"/ Flyover at Cajon Sub MP 39.1 has been the subject of thousands of pictures.  Most of those pictures were taken from the overlooking hill (known by local railfans as Gray's Hill) - just South of the Flyover.  That overlook is now endangered by a new major road which will connect Victorville and Apple Valley.

We send three pictures taken last week: 

#05  BNSF 7457 is EB through the vehicular bridge construction area at MP 39.4  
#11  UP 8469 EB meets BNSF 4980 WB at the Flyover  
#12  BNSF 4980 West & UP 8469 East at the Flyover MP 39.1

Some good shots there. Thanks for sharing. So, where exactly will be the "new" bridge here?  Actually never made it this way. Spent some time on Cajon, even at Martinez Spur back in the 90's. Ben

Hi Ben,

I can't manufacture a google link, but paste the following coordinates in maps.  34.500083, -117.282186  This is between the tracks.  It's an extension of Green Tree Blvd and the alignment absorbs Coad Road just west of the western most track.

This is simply an amazing series!  For me its as much fun to look at your pics and the flippant photo captions as it must have been for you to make the pics.  Thank you for taking the time to post these!.  I can't help but wonder what the photo ops will look like from the new bridge location.
