Just another KP chase
Author: santafe199

1. Picking up the chase of UP 6394 West at our “go to” location at the Swamp Angel Rd crossing 4 miles east of downtown Manhattan, KS. As fellow TO member “mg8711” will agree with, a great many of our KP chases either begin or end right here. This location has been christened with the nickname “The Swamp”...

2. The 6394 is rolling past the small yard + siding in Manhattan, KS proper.

3. Another one of our frequent “go to” locations is this 56th St overpass about 2 miles east of Ogden, KS. The Manhattan Regional Airport is just out of frame to the left. Daily non-stop flights available to O’Hare & DFW...

4. The 6394 is rolling past the now mostly derelict yard in Junction City, KS. At one time Junction was a hugely important division point, complete with a sizeable engine shops facility!

5. The 6394 is passing over the BNSF (former AT&SF) crossing at West Abilene, KS. That’s the UP ~ BNSF connection track on the right and the iconic Sunflower Hotel building behind the trees in the left-hand background.

6. The 6394 is rolling through the S-curve at Ike, KS.

One more for fans of the Kansas State Flower...

7. Considering the attention given to trackside sunflowers in a few of my recent threads I thought I should toss this image into the thread. That’s the ABS-governed east siding switch at Ike.

Sometimes I don't even chase from there, I just go out there for a one and done.

And nobody mentioned the lead engine is ex-SP.  The world as we know it is coming to an end!!  Nice stuff, Lance, thanks for posting.

Maybe nobody cares. As far as I know, I was not shooting roster shots…
