Heritage on the Strong City Sub (Last half)
Author: santafe199

Here’s the 2nd half of my first-ever chase of a BNSF “heritage” unit. It doesn’t get much better, especially for a first-time sighting of a chaseable locomotive...

16. 17. & 18. BNSF 6179, our decal adorned heritage unit on train G CCDEAP 9-08A is peeking over, topping & descending a little rise in Longford, KS.

28. 29. & 30. Another peek-a-boo sequence. The 6179/unit grainer has crossed the UP’s ex-Rock Island GSR (at Jacobs, KS) and is approaching the 360th St/Ranung Rd crossing.

31. A great chase comes to an end at Lost Springs, KS. A relief crew was called and is on the way while the original crew kicks back at the Berry St crossing.

Very nice series, Lance!  Wish I could get up there and shoot some with you.  Maybe one of these days.

A great sequence of beautiful shots, but I really liked #21 for the funky elements and composition. Instead of cursing the MOW equipment, you framed things nicely.

Nice series of shots....brings back memories of my old stomping(?)grounds..ran many a train along those rails.   Was a great day to chase with good light looks like...best series of that unit I've seen.
