Once again, the painters are busy in Canon City Colo. Tho this time it isn't the Royal Gorge Guys but Rock & Rail.  RRRR GP40-2 401 which was recently upgraded to EMD Dash 2 Electricals, along with that, it is getting new paint. No more Yellow and Red SOO Style paint scheme. Here is a shot from today, Oct 19 2021, of 401 getting ready for the next color to be added. Having seen the drawings/paint diagram for this, I must say it will be good. All units are to get the scheme, but after this one is done, the remainder won't get done til spring. The painters are having issues with the wind around here.  Might be complete by the end of October but no gaurentees.  Colors to be Off White/Red/Black with new Rock & Rail Company logo in center of long hood.  And from what they tell me, that new logo will be hand painted. No decal/stencil. Gonna keep an eye on this as it goes.  Take care all, Ben

Isn'r it hard to see wth the windows covered over like that? Check the grilles, that's an old unit.

3 total, all GP40 types, 1 GP40-2 as built, 201, 2 rebuilt to -2 types, 501 and this one here, 401. 401 is the only original unit left from start-up. Ben

Three - 201 (ex-SSW GP40-2), 401 (ex-PC/DRGW GP40, now upgraded to -2 apparently), and 501 (ex-WP GP40).  Was wondering what was happening with ol' 401.  Glad to see it'll be back and better than ever.
 

Appreciate the in progress shots. It's where the work gets done.
