Western Railroad Discussion > Power in the PalouseDate: 10/20/21 12:37 Power in the Palouse Author: Goatboat While driving home from Pullman, Washington on Sunday, I followed the Palouse River & Coulee City tracks west to Endicott and La Crosse. These three Watco units parked along the line.
1. At Mockonema, I found WAMX 4046 parked at the McGregor facility. I have been told that this siding is currently where revenue service ends. This GP40 was built for New York Central in 1967. 2. Further west, I found WAMX 5012 and WAMX 4043 parked at Winona. The GP50 was built for Chicago & Northwestern in 1980, while the GP40 was also built for NYC in 1967. 3. This car may be my new foammobile. While it won't get into a lot of places, I suspect it will be useful for chasing Z trains in the Columbia River Gorge.
