DRGW Heritage in Pueblo Co today
Author: msns2557

Nice way to awake this morning. ns2557 received word that the UP DRGW Heritage Unit, SD70ACe 1989, was leading the daily SB M NYPU0 19M into Pueblo Co. After taking the oldest grandchild to school and taking the other 2 with us, we headed to Pueblo hoping to get yet another shot of this engine on home rails. We just barely made it. Here are 3 shots from our trip to Pueblo all showing the UP 1989 as it makes it's way into Pueblo.

My first shot has the M NYPU01 19M with UP 1989 leading as they round the curve off the original DRGW Main into Pueblo at Pueblo Jct. They did discuss whether or not they were going to hold here as a NB BNSF train was waiting on the Spanish Peaks Sub at Pblo Jct to enter the BNSF Yard. Guess who went first?

The second shot is as the UP 1989 enters the Pueblo Yard on the east end and passes the Museum at Pueblo.

Last shot is at the west end of the yard at what was once known as Dry Creek. This is where the ex ATSF used to head west at off the Canon Main as it was called at Canon City Jct which is in the BNSF Pueblo Yard. The old DRGW Yard is on the left in shot here. Note the Boeing 737 Fuselage waiting to get picked up by that BNSF Train that was waiting at Pueblo Jct. That was BNSF Q ALTPTL6 19 btw.

Nice pleasant morning to get out after being home for a week or better.  Weather was a bit cool this morning but sunny skies called us. The Grand kids really like getting out with Nana and Papa to watch trains. We really enjoy taking them with us.  Be well everyone, God Bless all. Kristie

Rare to see an all EMD consist.  I assume the rear two SD9043s are either changing storage locations or shuffling off toward retirement or rebuild for CP?

They now ride on BNSF's Q-TX to Portland.  Instead of their own train.  They get shuttled from Witchita to Pueblo, then attached to the Q.

Very cool photos Kristie!!   Nice to see the DRGW heritage unit on home rails..   I too am very curious as to where the 90/43's are headed to.

Minor note to all regarding boeing car riding the Q-ALTPTL and Q-SSEALT.   They are now being symboled as the Q-SPOALT and Q-ALTSPO.   BNSF changed the eastbound symbol a while ago and I just found out that it was changed for the westbound symbol from a friend.

UP 3575 & 3634 are the two SD9043AC. They were moving to Pueble as a new storage location.

Was thinking that this was what was going on. There were 3 on one NYPU last week also. Pblo has around 25 already in storage here. Have those numbers somewhere. Ben

How many 90/43's does UP even have left on the roster?

I caught 3575 and 3634 this past Sunday in North Yard, Denver.  They had about four people paying very close attention to 3634 as they moved it.

So wanted to make sure I was correct.  As of October..  The south bound Q has been symboled the Q-SPOALT.  Northbound is still the Q-ALTPTL.
