Depot Friday: Even the chickens hit the snooze alarm!
Author: santafe199

It’s the purple hour! It’s that ultra-quiet time of the morning when the sun is up. Sorta, but under protest. Maybe it will eventually get around to burning off the mist. And maybe the chickens will eventually get around to their normal squawking duties.

Meanwhile here’s a look at a venerable old Missouri Pacific depot which still stands. But its former trackage is now called “KYLE”. And a string of stored hoppers now sit on the former Mop main track the supported passenger train service as late as 1958...

Thanks for looking!

Really a nice photo Lance. Has a great early morning feel to it.
One of my fondest memories of long distance bicycle touring was getting up early in Kansas and getting on the road even before the light ground fog had fully burned off.
Say what you will about the flatness of western and central Kansas, but that is some beautiful country to enjoy at 15 MPH.

Great photo. Thanks! Image of the day material, if you ask me.

Neat shot, love Concordia, to this day place still looks real "railroady" in contrast to similar
towns such as Clay Center.
