Western Railroad Discussion > Where-iz-it ?Date: 11/30/21 15:08 Where-iz-it ? Author: DonWinslow I had this marked as Bagdad but that ain't so. In the far background there appears to be a highway over crossing so that lets out Bagdaddy. This was taken in Novbember, 2012. It's somplace on the Needles Sub.
Don Winslow Glendora, CA http://www.donwinslow.net/Railroads Date: 11/30/21 15:23 Re: Where-iz-it ? Author: smf2mry West of Fenner, headed towards Essex.
Date: 11/30/21 15:30 Re: Where-iz-it ? Author: 3rdswitch Not sure about that as you should be able to see I 40 to the right? Did you blow it up to make sure that is an overpass and not just white sand in the distance? Nice shot by the way.
JB Date: 11/30/21 15:46 Re: Where-iz-it ? Author: DonWinslow It's definatley an over crossing. Thanks Joe. It might be the I-40 over crossing at Pisgah, east bound where you can look down at the RR. That's the only thing I could come up with except as you pointed out, you should be able to see the highway to the right of the train.
Don Winslow Glendora, CA http://www.donwinslow.net/Railroads Date: 11/30/21 15:54 Re: Where-iz-it ? Author: 3rdswitch Sure looks like above location except not seeing the Fwy. Could it be National Trails Hwy overpass eastbound between Essex and Fenner? That would explain not seeing the Fwy?

Author: ATSFSuperCap Too bad there is not enough pixels to blow it up and read the signal number. Perhaps if you have an original RAW file you can do that.
Date: 11/30/21 16:37 Re: Where-iz-it ? Author: callum_out The signal box etc would put it at the crossover about halfway between Essex and Fenner and WB.
Out Date: 11/30/21 16:41 Re: Where-iz-it ? Author: ATSFSuperCap Just looking at Google Earth. The next issues are the pole line on the left and again the signal. I cannot find that these match GE at the three bridges either east or west bound. But like you mentioned the image is 2012 so perhaps the signal locations have changed but the switch power line on the left, which is a BNSF power line for the track singals and switches does not match either. We need that signal number. The next bridge east would be the one 1/2 way up the hard pull out of Franconia at Yucca, but again do things line up? I have not looked over there yet.
Date: 11/30/21 16:48 Re: Where-iz-it ? Author: ATSFSuperCap Ah, yes, I found the signals west of Fenner. Then the power poles line up and the light colored berm leading out from the plow on the loco would be the water diversion levy that is out there. But there are NO crossovers in that area.

That's the spot I was looking at, signal box to the North and crossovers, East of Essex and West of Fenner Out Date: 11/30/21 20:04 Re: Where-iz-it ? Author: DonWinslow Hey, you guys are great. Thanks so much for all the hard work. I had forgotten that I had been out in the Fenner area. I think you got it nailed.

I use 4 wheel drive and go just east of Cadiz on the maintainers roads but I'm careful to not go around the road closed signs. RC Lundgren Elgin, TX Date: 12/01/21 10:20 Re: Where-iz-it ? Author: DonWinslow Well Joe, you were so right about that white sand. I blew up the photo and that's exactly what it was. A strip of white sand and then I used a GPS reading and found that it is a strip of straight track between Ash Hill and Klondike. Then I was able to find another angle of the same shot and was able to see a mile marker that read 6673. Again, I wanna thank everybody for their help on this.
