Silverwood Almost
Author: MacBeau

Timing is everything, and fourteen years ago last month that fact was made painfully clear as a westbound rolled by on Main Three just before a northbound passed above on the ex-SP Palmdale Cutoff. One of those situations that has been known to produce odd combinations of profane invectives.
Be of good cheer,

Makes one miss the red sill striping on UP units. Neat shots!

Great comparison of different elevations there.

What's up with the cantilever signal bridge - the one that contains no signals??

More than likely, since it was fourteen years ago, the signal bridge was newly installed and not in service. Signals were yet to come.

Look a little closer, they're right where they should be.

Mac, these are great shots!   I really like the way the first shot seems to have tracks all over the place.  The Silverwood connector seems to be going the wrong direction compared to everything else.  Is the connector actually level?

looks like the signal bridge is supporting 3-light signals governing eastward movements on mains 1 and 2?

That's Cajon!

No it's not level, so eastbounds travelling 'up the pass'
from the Palmdale cutoff onto BNSF tracks actually
descend briefly.
