Appreciated your heads-up on BNSF derailment at Cable (which State-?-California-?).  No need to worry about Amtrak's Southwest Chief (trains 3 & 4) both canceled in recent days.

Nothing on Tehachapi Railcam after 1:52am.
Just before midnight, a 3x3x0 UP goes east on the Edison camera. It never passes the Tehachapi camera. Behind it are two large BNSF eastbounds, one a 5x2x2, and then another UP.

From looking at the cameras, the one that derailed was the BNSF 8x0 past the Tehachap Depot railcam at 01:52.  It never passes the Cable railcam till 10:07, with only the head 38 cars.  Only 7 of a string of 11 auto racks are in that head cut, the rest are at the derailment sight, maybe derailed.  From the Cable camera, you can see there was a cut of 9 empty centerbeams, a tank, a box and then the 7 auto racks that didn't derail.  Still at the derailment sight are 4 auto racks, then another 50 cars, only three are flat cars (empty 53' articulated well cars).  Edit- 92 cars total.  So the derailment is near, if not on, the Cable Xover.

Found this - https://www.facebook.com/TehachapiLiveTrainCams/videos/1005417827054261/ - it's a very small film of the derailment.

The Cable railcam has links to daylight photos of the derailment.  It happened on the Cable Xover.  Auto racks derailed, one on its side, tank cars behind them derailed.

It's seems ĺike BNSF derails more trains then U P on that route so maybe uncle Pete hoggers are a little better trained.

On average, BNSF runs 2/3 of the trains over Tehachapi, UP 1/3.

I dunno, there's something under one of the tank cars that shouldn't be there and it's mangled enough to be
tough to identify. Be interesting to see the actual cause of this derailment.

You didn't finish your thought.  The 3 empty well cars on this derailed northbound were behind the derailed cars.  There were empty centerbeams just ahead of the derailed auto racks.  The auto racks might have been empty, I couldn't make out any vehicles in the backlit racks passing the depot railcam.

There's what looks like one of the Cable crossover signal masts under one of the tank cars, quite a bit of track damabe and a pair
of wiped out signals.

At 13:23, three BNSF units light went by the Tehachapi Depot railcam northbound on Main 2 (northernmost track).  They returned with the rear 48 cars off the derailed train at 14:40, waited at Tehachapi till 17:11 when it went southbound Main 2 to Main 1 at the Tehachapi Xovers.  Word is the train is going to Bissell on BNSF's Mojave Sub, all three units long-hood forward.  That leaves six cars at the derailment sight, 4 auto racks and two tank cars that were behind the auto racks.

Well let's just say there are six or so partial freight cars at the wreck site. Those poor auto racks are toast, one is off the East side less trucks
and one to the West. The tank cars don't look much better, one of which has a Cable signal mast beneath it. There's been 3 derailments at
about the same spot in recent years.

Maybe UP needs to fix their track.....   Sounds like there's something with how things are laid out there that could be a problem.
