Western Railroad Discussion > Questions about Redondo JunctionDate: 01/14/22 21:38 Questions about Redondo Junction Author: Sp1110 1. Why did BNSF remove the track that ran across the SP and UP tracks on the diamonds and connected the Harbor Division to the Union Station Line?
2. Did PE have trackage rights on the SP track? 3. Did the BNSF investigator ever determine the cause of the fire? 4. Why did Amtrak demolish the roundhouse? 5. How many roundhouses in California are still standing? 6. Is Redondo Junction owned by BNSF or UP? 7. Does BNSF have trackage rights on the Amoco Line? Edited 3 time(s). ------------------------------------------------------- > 1. Why did BNSF remove the track that ran across > the SP and UP tracks on the diamonds and connected > the Harbor Division to the Union Station Line? Because 20+ years ago, what is now BNSF's (very disconnected) former ATSF Harbor Sub was superseded by the jointly operated 3 Main track UP/BNSF Alameda Corridor "trench". And a double-track "fly-over" bridge was installed over the Union Pacific tracks to allow Amtrak Surfliner and Metrolink passenger operations to continue seamlessly to and from Los Angeles Union Station...... ~ Mr. MRL Date: 01/14/22 23:55 Re: Questions about Redondo Junction Author: MyfordBrowning The SP used trackage rights on the UP at Reddondo Junction. If I remember correctly, the SP handled cars for the PE btween the Northern and Southern Districts.

Well if nothing has disturbed the land they were on they sould be visible. The earth under the tracks had been compressed by the weight of the locomotives and had been contaminated by the drippings from the locomotives. |
